Application

Descriptions:

  • Pure sodium sulphide is colorless crystalline powder.

  • Industrial sodium sulfide is a yellow to brick red flakes mass or fused solid with an odor of rotten eggs.

  • Sodium sulfide absorbs moisture from the air. If exposed to moist air Sodium sulfide is liable to spontaneous heating and may cause ignition of nearby combustible material.

  • Sodium sulfide is soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in ether.

  • Aqueous solution is strongly alkaline reaction, it cause burns when touch the skin and hair.

  • Sodium sulfide solution will be slowly oxidation into sodium thiosulfate, sodium sulfite and sodium sulfate in the air.

Uses:

  • In dye industry, Sodium sulfide can be used as reducing agent, dyeing auxiliary or mordant agent for sulphur dyes, sulphur black, sulfur blue dyestuff intermediate.

  • In non-ferrous metallurgical industry, Sodium sulfide can be used as flotation agent for minerals.

  • In tanning industry, Sodium sulfide can be used for the hydrolysis for hair removal of raw hide and also used for the preparation of sodium polysulfide to help accelerate soaking and softening of dry skin.

  • In papermaking industry, Sodium sulfide can be used as the cooking agent.

  • In textile industry, it is used for the denitrofication of artificial fiber textile as well as the reduction of nitration and the mordant for cotton fabric dyeing.

  • In pharmaceutical industry, Sodium sulfide can be used for the production of febrifuge such as phenacetin

  • In electroplate industry, Sodium sulfide can be used for hydriding galvanize and recycle silver in silver and cadmium plating electrolyte.

  • In addition, Sodium sulfide can be also used for making sodium thiosulfate, sodium polysulfide and sodium hydrosulfide.
