Application

Mode of Action:

  • Imazamox is branched chain amino acid synthesis (ALS or AHAS) inhibitor.

  • Selectivity in soya beans and peanuts is attributed to rapid detoxification via demethylation and glycosylation.

  • Imazamox is a pre-emergence or post-emergence herbicide, with contact and residual activity, absorbed through both foliage and roots, and translocated to growing points. Plants wilt and turn brown.

  • Imazamox is readily absorbed by foliage and translocated throughout the plant.

Usage of Imazamox:

  • Imazamox is primarily an early post-emergence treatment, the optimum timing for applications being to weeds with 1-4 leaves.

  • Post-emergence herbicide absorbed through both foliage and roots and translocated to growing points. Plants wilt and turn brown.

  • The active ingredient is sometimes formulated as the ammonium salt.

  • The ammonium salt of Imazamox is a broad-spectrum herbicide, which can be applied either pre-emergence or post-emergence for control of weeds in maize, rape, alfalfa, peas and beans.

  • For pre-emergence application, a combination with a complementary residual compound is usual in crops tolerant to imazamox, such as 'Clearfield' wheat, rape and sunflowers.

  • Imazamox also has some residual activity. Weeds die within 6 weeks of treatment.

  • Application rates is 0.032-0.05 lb/a.
