Application

Descriptions:

  • Sodium ferrocyanide is a yellow crystalline solid.

  • Sodium ferrocyanide is soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol.

  • Despite the presence of the cyanide ligands, sodium ferrocyanide has low toxicity, because ferrocyanides tend not to release free cyanide.

  • However, like all ferrocyanide salt solutions, addition of an acid can result in the production of hydrogen cyanide gas, which is toxic.

  • The hydrous form is sometimes known as yellow prussiate of soda. The yellow color is the color of ferrocyanide anion.

Uses:

  • Sodium ferrocyanide can be used in producing iron blue (Prussian blue), blue heliographic paper, paint coating, dyeing and printing industry.

  • Sodium ferrocyanide can be used in surface corrosion protecting for tannage and metal.

  • Sodium ferrocyanide can be used in carburization treating for carbon steel.

  • Sodium ferrocyanide can be used for bleaching, toning, and fixing in photography.

  • Sodium ferrocyanide can be used for removal of mercaptans in the petroleum industry.

  • Sodium ferrocyanide can be used as a stabilizer for the coating on welding rods.

  • Sodium ferrocyanide can be used in removing iron in pharmaceutical producing.

  • Sodium ferrocyanide can be used as oxidant, explosive and chemical reagent.

  • Sodium Ferrocyanide of food grade can be used as anti-caking agent in salt, food and other products.

  • Sodium ferrocyanide can be used as additive for preventing agglomeration in melt snow in winter.
