Application

Descriptions:

  • Ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) is a white colorless crystalline solid.

  • Ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid is slightly soluble in hot water, insoluble in cold water, alcohol and general organic solvent, but soluble in sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and ammonia solution.

  • The primary hazard is the threat to the environment.

Uses:

High molecular chemical industry:

  • EDTA is a representative of chelating substances.

  • EDTA is used as polymerization activator for butyl bezene latex, and polyreaction terminator in acrylic fibre production.

Water treatment:

  • EDTA is used for water treatment to control water hardness and prevent scale.

  • EDTA is capable of preventing the harmful effects on production caused by metal ions in water.

  • EDTA is also used as detergent for cleaning the boilers in large-scale power plants.

Daily chemical industry:

  • EDTA is used as additive to detergent, skin cream and hair-conditioner.

Paper-making industry:

  • EDTA is used for treating the steamed fibre.

  • EDTA will promote the whiteness of paper and reduce the incrustation in the steamer.

Pharmaceutical industry:

  • Through cyclopolymerization with methyl amide, EDTA is made into ethyl amide, a remedy for psoriasis.

  • EDTA is also a stabilizer for some vaccines and antihaemoagglutinin.

Textile dyeing and printing industry:

  • EDTA will promote color ability of the dyestuff and brightness of the dyed fabric.

Others:

  • Furthermore, EDTA can also be used to make harmful radioactive metal detoxification rapid excretion from the body play.
