Application

Description of Sodium Lactate:

  • Sodium Lactate is the sodium salt of lactic acid, which is produced by neutralizing  lacticacid, which is produced by fermentation of a sugar source.

  • Sodium Lactate is colorless to slightly yellowish viscous liquid.

  • Sodium Lactate is odorless or with a slight characteristic odor.

  • Sodium Lactate has a mild saline taste.

  • Sodium Lactate is miscible with water, alcohol or glycerin.

  • As a food additive, Sodium Lactate has the E number E325.

  • Sodium lactate is naturally a liquid product, but is also available in powder form.

Usage of Sodium Lactate:

Food industry:

  • Sodium lactate is normally used as preservative, water retention agent, antioxidant synergists and emulsifiers.

  • Sodium lactate also can be used as pH adjusting agents, seasoning materials, flavor modifiers, anti-cold agent, quality improver for baked food (like cakes, egg rolls, cookies, etc.).

  • Sodium lactate is widely used in the production processing of meat, wheaten food and poultry food to extend shelf life and increase food safety, as it has a broad antimicrobial action, such as against yeast and fungi, and is effective at inhibiting most spoilage and pathogenic bacteria.

Cosmetic industry:

  • Sodium lactate is widely used in shampoo, liquid soaps or other similar products as it is an effective humectant and moisturizer.

Pharmaceutical industry:

  • Sodium lactate is used for the supplement of body fluids and regulating electrolyte balance in the body, its injection can relieve diarrhea, dehydration and diabetes caused by gastritis poisoning.

  • Sodium lactate is widely used in renal patients for continuously portable peritoneal dialysis and ordinary dialysis liquid for artificial kidney.

  • Sodium lactate has very effective treatment for skin disorders; it is applied in the acne resistance products.
